OUTLINE OF THE EVENT

This Southwestern European Regional Programming Contest is one of the six european regional programming contests to select the teams that will represent our region (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain) at the finals. Winners will join 60 teams selected from regional contests on six continents at the ACM Programming Contest World Finals in Vancouver, Canada, March 7-11, 2001.

The Southwestern European Regional Programming Contest is organized by the ACM Southwestern European Regional Contest Organization Committee under the patronage of the Departments of Informatics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Valladolid, Spain. This contest will last 2 days from Saturday November 18 to Sunday 19, 2000.

We suggest participants to already arrive on Friday afternoon and to leave on Monday morning. On Saturday morning the opening ceremony and social and/or scientific events will be held. At noon, lunch will be served in the university cafeteria. The afternoon will be reserved for a practice session to get acquainted with the contest environment. In the evening, a tourist visit and a social event will be offered to all participants and their coaches.

The actual contest will take place from 10:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. Each team, composed of up to three students, will get a set of six to nine problems which they have to solve on a single computer, programming either C, C++ or Pascal. During the whole contest, a buffet lunch will be provided. The event will finish with the award ceremony with the proclamation of the winner team, which will avance to the finals.
